The Stroke/Vascular Illness Foundation is constituted as a driving and proactive entity in the fight against stroke by means of collaboration between all those entities and public or private associations worried by the disease.
 
The Stroke/Vascular Illness Foundation –as a private foundation without lucrative encouragement-was founded with the desire of complementarity of performance which has already been produced by the public health network, with special emphasis on the knowledge and prevention of the illness and the supporting and informing of patients that have suffered from it, so as to stimulate research.

 The Stroke/Vascular Illness Foundation gathers the experience of other countries where similar entities have been created. Between which, it is important to emphasize the English Stroke Association, the American Stroke Association, the New Zealand Stroke Association, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
